A few of these have been hidden in the public eye: when Posy Simmonds’s True Love and Ken Pyne’s The Relationship were released in 1981 they were published by major presses and reviewed in the national media. Many libraries have active manga or anime (animated films or television shows, often based on existing manga series) clubs as part of their regular teen programming. On top of being a director, graphic novel creators are also editors. As much fun as this series is, its low sales recently led to cancellation.

I've long loved authors Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and William S. The 2010 list focused on those graphic novels published between late 2008 through 2009. AMERICUS’ readability is targeted for ages 12+, and MK Reed writes with this demographic in mind. Although Daybreak is set in yet another world ravaged by a zombie plague, Brian Ralph takes a slightly different approach to the “ragtag band of humans united against the inevitable” genre, by telling the story strictly from a first-person perspective.
